About
I am a renaissance woman with a wide variety of interests; a fabulous combination of wholesome and natural beauty, brains and social skills. With years of hospitality experience, I also have worked in a number of different industries. Trained in theater at a top 10 performing arts high school (and one of the first magnet schools in the US), I also studied a year of theater at LSU.
I decided to focus on biology because I wanted to learn about the natural world. Throughout college, I honed my people skills by waiting tables in comedy clubs for 6 years. After graduating in Biology, I continued to develop my personal interactions and received media training and extensive public speaking skills at Busch Gardens. Other jobs I've worked include Environmental Education Specialist, Science Store Manager, Improvisational Comedy Club Server and a number of freelance and entrepreneurial pursuits.
I have been an active participant and leader in building our local community in a home education group and a group focused on local farms, sustainable living skills and whole foods, and currently I am working a variety of freelance jobs based from home. I have strong interactive communication skills with a fun and improvisational style, and am pleasantly easy to work with. Several areas of interest pique my curiosity, and I am an intensive researcher and self-taught student in these subjects (see Areas of Expertise below). I enjoy working with people from all walks of life, and am open-minded, non-diva, non-prima donna, flexible and personable. Among my peers, I am a coach and counselor, as my keen insight into the human psyche and realistic, non-judgmental approach are helpful to all.
Recently I have learned to play mandolin, and enjoy playing punk rock, new wave and alt rock covers from the late '70s to the present because I like this music, and because no one expects such a thing. I also seek comedy/music collaborators, and have recently begun doing promotional spokesmodeling for trade shows and business, and have recently represented Staples, Mattel and Hewlett-Packard. For the past 4 years, I have been doing some extras work for agencies who work with Disney. My creative spirit is emerging nicely; the camera loves me, and I love the camera.
