Comedian/Actor Marvin “M-Dubs” Phipps was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago IL. He was raised by a single mother and being the youngest of 9 children M-Dubs is making a name for himself in the world of comedy. Marvin was always considered the “funny kid” in school and has a knack and a sense for humor as well as entertainment. He has always enjoyed entertaining and making people laugh and it is his focus in life to make a career of this passion.
Marvin started in the comedy game a year ago and has taken off running ever sense. He has toured out of country with Actor/Comedian Lil Rel and is featured on the “Lil Rel and Friends” DVD. He has performed alongside such comedians as Corey Holcomb, Lil Rel, Smokey, Shawn Morgan, DeRay, Deon Cole, and K-Dub, to name a few.
M-Dubs gets his inspiration from comics such as Chicago’s own Bernie Mac, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Fox, Chris Rock, Bill Cosby, Chris Tucker, David Allen Grier, Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and Martin Lawrence.
Marvin is sharpening his entertainment skills by attending classes at The Second City Theatre in Chicago. As Chicago’s biggest up and coming comedian M-Dubs aspires to become an actor as well as established screenwriter. His main goals are to be featured in stage plays, commercials, sitcoms, and the ‘Big Screen.” Fans can catch him every Wednesday at Jokes and Notes comedy club in Chicago or check his schedule for up and coming shows.
