About
From the streets of New Orleans comes the wit, humor and extreme stage presence of Jay Gates. At age 19, while attending Old Dominion University, Jay discovered his talent for making people laugh and decided to take it to the stage. After running an improv show for 4 years and performing at various venues around the area, Jay took his show on the road and has since been booked at clubs from New York to LA to Hawaii, with comics such as Dane Cook, Lewis Black, Eddie Griffin, Dave Attell, David Alan Grier, Tommy Davidson, Aries Spears, Kevin Meaney, Dave Mordal, Jim Wiggins, Jake Johannsen, Henry Cho and Brett Leake. Jay’s award-winning writing and acting has been recognized and featured on HBO’s Project Greenlight, Maxim Magazine Online, Kevin Spacey’s Triggerstreet.com, the 48 Hour International Film Festival and the Hawaii Funny Fest. Jay has also appeared on the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, TLC, the upcoming films "Adrenaline" and "Chasing Vengeance," and in a new sitcom pilot "SUBS," which he also wrote and directed. You can find Jay all over European television this spring on "Comedy Live" and on stages across America on the Hollywood Outlaw All-Star Comedy Tour before he makes his move to Los Angeles.
