About
Hi everyone, my name is Annie, however the people on the other end of my gun read me as "killed by Ecstacy". I am 23 years old and currently studying Economics at the University of California, Berkeley while at the same time pursuing a dream in the gaming world.
I have been deeply rooted in gaming since I was a child, dating back to the NES days which evolved into every other console to be birthed after it. However, my heart lies primarily in the computer gaming world. I know that sounds as typical as they come, but it has developed into something much bigger over the past year as I joined the North American based Multi-Gaming Clan, Team Evil Geniuses (EG).
I was an avid Capture the Flag player for 3 years in Unreal Tournament 2004 up until the middle of 2007. Now after some training, I play alongside and against men (mostly boys) as the only competitive female player in Unreal Tournament 3 for the PC.
Team Evil Geniuses sponsor me to play so it makes me in the words of Alex Garfield, the EG manager, “the first girl in e-Sports history to start for an otherwise all-male team at the top of its respective game.” I am not a part of these all girl gaming cliques, clans or teams. I compete against the males, and I win against the males, trying my best to cut their egos down to size!
Recently I picked up Guitar Hero III as a secondary game, which I am ranking extremely well in via the ranking system of Scorehero.com. (Currently #190 with 25 full combos on Expert). You can look me up on there via the username "Ecstasy" for the Xbox360.
Recently had a chance to show off my skills at a local tourney with around 32 people at a University, 31 of which were men. All the guys were talking smack and grooming their egos, luckily when it was my turn to step up I got a chance to blow their egos to pieces! Thankfully I knew the star power paths and was a scorehero regular and I’m not even that good! It was sponsored by RedBull so I won a case of Red Bull to celebrate my victory with.
Being a part of G4 in anyway would be a huge deal to me and I would jump at the opportunity at the drop of a hat. I like how the hosts actually know what they’re talking about from their own perspective and they’re not just reading from a script. For me, it doesn't really matter if it’s a keyboard, controller, or plastic guitar. As long as it's a game and there's competition, I'm there and ready.
