Theatre’s casting notes: “The characters in this musical do not necessarily play children. Actors for the parts of Charlie Brown, Lucy, Sally, Linus, and Peppermint Patty should play naturally at whatever chronological age they are. The beagle Snoopy thinks himself a person, slightly more mature than the “kids.” However, the kids think Snoopy is a dog and do not communicate with him. When Snoopy speaks, the kids hear only unintelligible dog-bark sounds and react accordingly. Snoopy alone can communicate with the bird Woodstock, and their singular relationship is not understood by the kids.” The roles of Charlie Brown and Lucy may be seniors; Woodstock is referred to as male, may be cast as female.
