EMILY MURPHY: Early to Mid-20s. Pretty, smart, cool. On her way to a successful future (once she decides what that future will be). The kind of girl you want your parents to meet. A bit of a hopeless romantic.

NANCY MURPHY & ROBERT BOB MURPHY: Mid to Late-40s. Emily’s parents. Dad is lovable, slightly nerdy and a kid at heart; loves holidays and travel, and is eagerly planning for his retirement. Mom is warm and intelligent and the more practical as between the two. They live together in a nice, upper middle-class suburban neighborhood.

MARK MURPHY & SARA LANGSTON*: Late-20s to Early-30s. Couple on a road trip. Mark is American, Sara is either *BRITISH or SOUTH AFRICAN!

FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT*: Early 20s. Think Hiro Nakamura from HEROES. Likable, a bit befuddled by the English language and by Los Angeles and its cultural quirks. Must be *NATIVE JAPANESE, KOREAN or CHINESE!

FELTON ROBERT MILES BANKS III: Early 20s. Young, nerdy, very eager and earnest. Member, Future Business Leaders of America. When he’s not studying, he might be found on campus at a petitioning table or posting bulletins at student kiosks. He’s a hardcore Republican, needless to say.

IAN LOGAN*: Early to Mid-20s. Young and hip. Into music, movies, gaming and all things media. Has all the trick gadgets. Enjoys snowboarding, skateboarding. Ian is either *NATIVE BRITISH or SOUTH AFRICAN!

MARKUS S. COX AKA THE BOSS: Early to Late 30s. Think Michael Douglas & Charlie Sheen in WALL STREET. The Boss is high-styling financial success originally from NY. His Apprentice (an LA native) follows in his footsteps always.

STUART BANKS AKA THE APPRENTICE: Mid 20s. Think Ron Livingston in OFFICE SPACE or the studio assistant in SWIMMING WITH SHARKS.

ELIZABETH DEL MAR: Early 30s. Former corporate woman who made the leap and is following his dream of opening her own business.

ASHLEY BOSWELL: California beach babe sorority-type. Wants to work in fashion. Think Jessica Simpson at USC.

BILL FISHER: Early to Mid-40s. An apartment manager. A master of routine. A bit of a hypochondriac.

VAN THE MAN: A true old-school native of California surf culture who takes every day as he finds it. Wisdom of a child. Lives at the Marina near Venice Beach. Think Jeff Bridges in THE BIG LEBOWSKI.
