The 48 Hour Film Project is coming to COLUMBUS!
In a wild, sleepless weekend, you and your team will make a movie - write, shoot, edit and score it. From scratch. In 48 hours. On Friday, August 15th, we'll all meet at 6:00pm at the Gateway Theatre and Event Place at 1550 N. High Street. You'll get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. By Sunday, August 17th, the movie must be complete. It will show at the Gateway Theatre and Event Place at 1550 N. High Street at a screening which is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20th.
There are three ways to be involved:
1. FORM A TEAM. If you can rustle up enough folks to make a movie, great! The project is open to pros and amateurs alike. Just put together a team and register on-line at
http://www.48hourfilm.com/columbus and then meet us on Friday, August 15th, ready to go. There are only a limited number of slots, so apply today...don't wait!
2. JOIN A TEAM. If you're interested in participating, but can't form a team, you can still definitely be involved! There will be opportunities where folks can meet team leaders and join their teams. Get your information to team leaders at:
http://www.48hourfilm.com/join ...and get your ear to the ground by signing up for the Columbus 48HFP yahoo group at:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/columbus48hfp/ and get to know other film-makers by joining our MySpace page at
http://www.myspace.com/columbus48hfp. These are great ways to build your team and cultivate relationships that last!
Our official Columbus website is
http://www.48hourfilm.com/columbus 3. WATCH THE MOVIES. Come on by to the see the movies! They will be showing at the Gateway Theatre and Event Place at 1550 N. High Street on August 20th.
Meet other filmmakers, spend 48 hours in intense movie making, and have your film screened at the Gateway Theatre - a very nice theatre! They have the Christie digital projectors and everything! And compete to represent Columbus at the 48HFP national screening!
The winning Columbus team will compete against other films to represent Columbus at the 48 Hour Film Project's national screening (Cinequest is among them), and will compete for additional prizes. Entry instructions can be found at
http://www.48hourfilm.com.
This is a real opportunity to get your work seen! One 2007 winner went on to show their work at Cannes, while a 2006 team had the privilege of creating the VISA sponsorship video that plays at every 48HFP screening around the country!
So come on out and make a movie!
