Here's what I do know:

There has never been a better time to be a host. Networks are scrambling to get new programming on the air with February and May Sweeps coming because most of the scripted shows that they had in the can will expire in the next couple of weeks.

Sooooo future hosts of America, it's time for you to make some good new years resolutions while the sun is still shining!

Here are some tips:

1. YOU MUST HAVE A FANTASTIC REEL. I can't stress to you how important that is, the days of being just a pretty girl running down the Venice boardwalk with a mic in your hand are over!

2. YOUR UNIQUENESS SHOULD REFLECT IN YOUR MATERIALS... so what is your brand? Ask yourself: Are you a green expert? Political junkie? Mom on the go? Chef? Party planner? Or just the average Joe like Mike Rowe who loves to get dirty? This could be your year because the sun is shining in this medium we call reality!

Make sure your pictures, resume, and bio all reflect your brand as well. These are your materials, your calling cards, your business cards!

3. SET A GOAL to get at least 5 of your reels/business cards out a week. Whether you submit to the great castings you see on my site, becomeahost.com , or to network executives and development people in new media... do the work!

If you take the time to find your brand, create materials that reflect that, and distribute your media... it will pay off because the right job will find you!
