Your First Talent Resume
Monday, December 3, 2007

If you’ve never worked on camera before, we recommend jumping into an acting and/or hosting workshop before you do anything. These classes/workshops will help you to gain a general understanding of the fundamentals of the craft before you jump into it. From there, you should work to gain some experience that you can add to your resume. There are several websites that you can monitor where casting directors and producers post their talent needs and you can submit yourself directly. Example of these sites include:

1) www.craigslist.com
2
) www.lacasting.com
3
) www.actorsaccess.com
4
) And of course...  www.gotcast.com!

You can also consider using a biography in lieu of a resume until you reach a point where you have enough credits to fill out your resume. The biography can break down your background, your special skills, and your areas of expertise.

Whether you opt for a resume or biography, though, it’s VERY important to outline your areas of expertise. With reality TV growing at an exponential rate, you never know what type of expert the next new show might need. So, it might just be that your skills in karate, fashion, design, cooking, science, construction, sports, medicine, investigation, etc… might pay off on TV!
