About
My name is Thom Ophof. I have been branded; I have walked through fire; I have jumped cars; I have raced BMX bikes; I have street surfed by hanging onto a car door as the vehicle reached speeds of 80 mph or more. Some say I am crazy. I say I’m simply outgoing. Others will tell you about how hard of a worker I am. And I will agree. I work hard, I play hard, and I build cars.
As the owner of Godspeed Rides in Brownsburg, Indiana, I work on anything from small projects to complete hot rod and custom builds. I enjoy shaping metal and creating parts from scratch, designing them first on a computer and sending them to a CNC for programming. To me, rat rods are unsafe and built for shock value. A good car should function as well as it looks. As a car builder and a business owner, that’s where I come in.
I also try to help those in need. I have organized the Blanket Run, a charity ride that benefits the Wheeler Mission in Indianapolis. During the annual events, drivers from all over are invited to bring their traditional and high-end street rods and custom cars for a daylong cruise around the area. For the ride, I ask that each participant brings a blanket to be donated to the mission. The drivers then go on a tour that I organize of local hot rod and racing shops. It’s a win-win situation; drivers and car owners get to see the inner workings of local shops, and the homeless shelter gets much-needed supplies to help keep its residents warm at night. In the six years that I’ve been organizing the run, I have donated more than 600 blankets to the Wheeler Mission.
My name is Thom Ophof. I work hard. I play hard. I build cars. Vote for me.
