Hey what's going on mtvU?

My name is Taiwan, I am 22 years old, and a TV Production student at Union County College in NJ. I have been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time!

I know that you got my other 3 emails :) I am sorry about that, I just really want the chance to show you I deserve this job... You can trust that my desire to become a VJ will be with me as long as I work with MTV Networks by coming in on time, researching / knowing my materials, blogging, and any other task required of me will be fulfilled.

Growing up having a sister into MTV, another into BET, and a Mom into Gospel, Hot AC, and oldies, allowed me to acquire a broad taste in music. I first got into music videos when I seen J.K. moving around a super clean white room with black couches in Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity." Attending the Woodie Awards in 2006 and 2008 was a highlight in my life since I got to see my some of my favorite artist like Beck, Lykke Li, TV On The Radio, Gym Class Heroes, Imogen Heap, Lupe Fiasco, and Q-tip.

Some newer videos I enjoy are T-Pain's Chopped and Skrewed, Seether's Breakdown, Friendly Fires’ Skeleton Boy, and Santigold's L.E.S. Great lyrics are also a factor in my video ratings.

My passion for music and pop culture moved online when I started my blog in 2003. In 2005, the Fuse TV network called me in to be a VJ after seeing my website. It did not lead to a job opportunity but I did learn from it and made myself better.

In 2006, I got picked out of many college students to write and host an episode of the Dean's List on mtvU.

That video got passed to former MTV talent heads Vinnie Potestivo and Christine Cowan in 2007. Once again this did not lead to a job offer but Christine personally gave me some tips after the interview - which I immediately followed!

I am currently an intern at Fuse TV in NY for Production. I do research that goes into scripts and write blogs. Steven Smith, one of the VJs even practices with me. I love my job but I want to be in front of the camera instead of behind the scenes. The best part is I get to take the scrips home and practice. Meeting celebrities (Jadakiss, Metallica, Bow Wow, Soulja Boy, Motley Crue, and more) is cool too. I really enjoyed meeting Matt Pinfield the most as he really spoke to me about the life of a MTV VJ.

If I am not practicing in front of a mirror I am doing man on the street interviews at local events.

I have a great personality, look, taste, and voice.

I am sure along with Dana-Sky and Kim we could put on a great channel that would have students in their dorm watching instead of going to a party!

I have worked with mtvU's Dan Luts and Shadow Holden.
