Originally from Columbus, Ohio, and residing all over Florida since 2003, Travis Kelley is a 27 year-old, licensed cosmetologist and freelance session stylist. He is Owner/Entrepreneur of Shear Terror Hair Designs ©, his freelancing business primarily based around hair styling for photo shoot work. Although he has only been doing hair for a little over a year, his passion and ambition is a driving force behind his work and motivates him to push forward. With a constant hunger for knowledge and desire to create, he thrives upon experimentation with various techniques and ideas to bring new life to his craft.

Having been in the industry for several years on the business end, from assisting to salon management, Travis derived the idea for Shear Terror Hair Designs from his experiences in the field.

“I felt like there wasn’t quite a place for me, and for many other people who carry the same views, in this business. Doing hair shouldn’t be about looking or acting a certain way. Everyone has this preconceived notion that hair stylists are bound to certain limitations of who they are, and most salons inhibit an individual's desire to be themselves and expand on their work. Once I completed my cosmetology training, and really delved into this medium, I was determined to change that outlook.”

Drawing from various influences and interests, Shear Terror Hair Designs has become a bit of an extension of Travis’s own personal self. “I guess you could say I am not your typical hair stylist. I listen to death metal, I’m heavily tattooed, and I approach hair with a different aesthetic than most people I know in the business. My passion for creating beauty with an avant-garde appeal doesn’t just derive itself from the natural attraction of a woman, but from art, music, films…just various little details in life that one might overlook as inspiration.”

Travis’s hair designs have been featured in the Seminole Hard Rock 2009 Calendar in Tampa, Florida (as well as being featured on Hard Rock billboards in the area), the Particle9Productions.com Girls of the Month feature on the Particle 9 website, and in other countless photo shoots!

Travis is also a Featured Stylist on Hairburners.com, has been a Featured Stylist for several Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Freelance Beauty Team events in Mobile, Alabama, and as well, was elected Moderator of the Hair Stuff Forum on SuicideGirls.com!

Travis also kickstarted Shear Terror Models ©, non-exclusive contracted promotional models that represent Shear Terror Hair Designs and help to promote his business.

To date, he has worked with and done hair for over a hundred models, and his hairstyles and designs can be seen in the works of such established photographers as Chad Martel, Bil Brown, Mojokiss, and Scott Smallin.

Travis is also an aspiring Actor, with a few stints in several independent films. Currently, Travis and director/producer Robot Sanctuary Productions are in production of a grindhouse/slasher film entitled, "Shear Terror" (a homage to both of their loves for genre films and a loose affiliation promoting Shear Terror Hair Designs). As well, Travis is also acting in another independent Pirate-themed film, called "Scorpéo", directed and produced by Particle 9 Productions.

When times allows, Travis also Models on occasion. Although he mainly work behind-the-scenes, and doesn't consider himself a model in a literal sense, he doesn't mind being in front of the camera from time to time. His primary goals with modeling are to obtain promotional photos to use in conjunction with Shear Terror Hair Designs, add more diversity to his portfolio, and hopefully achieve eventual published work in magazines that showcase tattoo work, clothing companies, alternative modeling, or anything hair-related.
