Hi! Thank you for taking the time to check out our profile. First allow me to give you a brief history of our organization.... New Jersey Puppy Rescue is a small rescue organization consisting of individual foster homes. Started by 2 friends in 2003 NJPR has slowly evolved into an incorporated non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing puppies and dogs from shelters that are forced to euthanize unwanted pets. NJPR is also committed to the support of other Humane organizations and the education of the general public of the need to spay and neuter pets.
Puppies! So many unwanted pets, so many animals in need. What started off as a "let's do our part and rescue a dog" has become an all consuming passion! And the best part, puppies are ALWAYS happy to see you!
A bit more about ourselves. My hubby and our 2 boys, ages 12 and 15, are an integral part of the rescue. Rarely, and I do mean rarely, are there no rescue puppies in our home. Add to that our own 4 dogs (2 Aussies, a Borde Collie and a Great Pyrenees), 9 cats, a snake, along with a mess of chickens and we have an almost full house. Oh yeah, forgot to mention the horse! Teddy the Belgian, he was a rescue too and lives nearby at a farm with a few buddies. Needless to say ~alot~ of time goes into care, feeding and cleanup of everyone. Add to that processing adoption applications, arranging and meeting transports, checking references, scheduling appointments and attending community events. It really seems to be a never ending process. Did I mention puppies are always happy to see you?
While being so involved in rescue can be almost over-whelming it is also very rewarding. The sense of accomplishment in taking a puppy, or litter of puppies, off death row and finding them loving, forever homes where they can grow old is hard to put into words. The happiness we bring to the families who adopt the pup brings us joy as well. Also, it is always exciting to see new pups with their distinct personalities, colors and breed mixes. Not being breed or size specific we see all sorts of interesting mixes, from Chihuahua's to Newfoundlands and everthing in between. Our dogs and pups attend our boys soccer games and practices. (Oh yeah, add that to the "to do" list, both boys play competitive travel soccer.) The team parents never know what we will show up with next!
