About
Maurice Andrews, also known as “Mr. Reese”, wasorn in Las Vegas, NV. Maurice was born and raised in the crime-infested environment known as Sin City. Sex, drugs, and violence were things he encountered on a daily basis. Maurice found himself succumbing to the pressures at an early age, where he became a constant problem to his family, teachers, and legal authorities, until his mother decided she had enough! At the age of 10, Maurice’s mother enrolled him in a mentoring group, and later into private school.
These experiences taught him discipline, the importance of education, and the need to take on everyday challenges in life. Maurice says the experiences“…really helped me change my life around. I learned to be respectful and always help others. They also put me in contact with the lord. I was able to see life at a different angle. I knew what I wanted to do with my life once I finished school.” But Maurice soon found out that college life wasn’t easy, as he found himself living out of his 2001 Ford Expedition for 3 months, two years in a row! During this time, he often had no idea how he would obtain his next meal. Determined to stay on track and achieve his goals, he continued to push himself and soon found himself one year later auditioning for College Hill Interns with nothing but a pen and a stick of gum. As he stood in line, Maurice recalls feeling insecure as those around him boasted of how they spent countless hours preparing for the audition. He thought to himself, “Why am I here? I’m not prepared for anything but failure.” But confidence and faith that God must have some plan for him wouldn’t let Maurice walk away.
In fact, one of his favorite quotes is by Frederick Douglas, “Without struggle, there is no progression”. Incorporating that attitude gave him the strength to believe, and on that fateful day, he knew he wouldn’t spend another winter night in that Expedition.
A talented college basketball player, Maurice learned the importance of being a leader, not just on the court, but in everyday life as well. His uncanny leadership skills are directly reflected in his latest business venture as an an executive producer of a new show entitled “College Life”.
