Let's start with the basics shall we? My name is Lauren Berggren. I'm living in the hot state of Louisiana in a boring town called Mandeville. No one seems to know where that is but it's right outside New Orleans to give you an idea.
I've started gaming around age 5. Having a twin brother, anything he did or received I needed it too. We got a NES for our birthday and then we got hooked. From console to console video games kept growing on me. I've always considered myself a gamer, though I did always have barbie doll and G.I. Joe along side me as I strived to find that last hidden 1up Bug in the Lion King SNES game! Around age 10-12 I got into computer gaming with the games Monster Truck Madness, Tarzan, The Orgeon Trail, Army Men Online, and many other games my parents would get us. I honestly didn't realize that girls in the gaming world had it hard until around age 14, when I started going to a local lan center to play with friends. That's where I began becoming competitive.
My first real job my mom forced upon me to find was at EBGames back in 2005. I worked my way up the food chain and became assistant manager in 2007. The job was just perfect for me because without spending a dime, I could constantly rent out any game for free and get a taste of it!
I would say my favorite system is the PC. PC games get me very competitive verses console games I mainly play out of the love of video games. Even bad games such as Cel Damage on the gamecube, I still appreciate trying out because I know there was someone out there who put much time and effort into creating that game. I'm currently going to ITT-Tech for Computer Animation and Game Design so I can make games too! My favorite type of games are FPS, MMORPG, RPG, scary ones ^.^*, fighting, racing, puzzles, and occasionally RTS when I'm in the mood.
Last year I proudly won the title Miss Video Game 2007. MVG wasn't from just beauty, all the girls in the contest used their skill and talent in games to compete to win. Being a very well rounded gamer, I could say I might have had an advantage at some point :P
I'm hoping to get a roll with G4TV to get OUT of Mandeville (home of the nothing!) and get a sneak peak into the gaming industry world of fun! I'll try any game once... I wish I used that motto with food, heh.
