About
Jennifer Meyers was born and raised in Maryland. While in high school, she ventured overseas to study her junior year in Israel. Upon graduating, she attended the University of Florida, where she majored in Business Adminstration, with a minor in Theater as well as a specialization in Spanish. Since studying abroad was such a fulfilling experience during high school, her junior year of college was spent studying in Sevilla, Spain and followed up by a month and a half tour throughout Europe.
In college Jennifer flexed her creative muscles by performing live skits in front of 80,000 people at Gator Growl, the largest student run production in the nation. Acting has always been Jennifer's dream, and ever since she was a young girl Jennifer wanted her Mother to move the both of them to New York so she could start pursuing her acting dream. Unfortunately, this was not an option, but her mother assured her that one day when Jennifer is all grown up, she could pursue her dreams because anything is possible! These encouraging words have stuck with Jennifer and since then, nothing has stopped her.
After college, Jennifer started her journey by moving to the big apple. Where she studied with Anna Strasberg at LEE STRASBERG THEATER INSTITUTE, and took comedy classes at Caroline's on Broadway which led her to begin doing stand up comedy. Jennifer appeared on Saturday Night Live, All my Children, Zoolander, Replacements, Gods & Generals, The Recruit and many other feature roles.
Two months before Sept 11, she moved home to Maryland where she saved money to move to Los Angeles. Within 7 months Jennifer got her SAG card in New York, experience, training and a taste of the entertainment business and was off to HOLLYWOOD to continue her journey.
While in LA, Jennifer continued to study with Anna Strasberg and Susan Batson at the Black Nexxus acting studio and doing stand up comedy all around town at comedy clubs such as the COMEDY STORE, IMPROV, HA HA CAFE, COMEDY UNION, DUBLINS, and other comedy venues around LA. She appeared on King of Queens, Life with Bonnie, and worked with Jerry Lewis on the Jerry Lewis Telethon. Jerry, directed her in a piece he wrote for her, which was such an honor to Jennifer to work with a legend so early in her career.
She started producing & hosting her own comedy show a year ago at Gengais Cohen, a chinese restaurant in LA, where she performs, books the comedians, and promotes the venue. Then she moved the show over to Blowfish, a popular Hollywood sushi restaurant, where she called it, Sushi ~ Sake ~ Comedy! Jennifer did a show at The Friars of Beverly Hills. She had her first show there in Oct 2006 and it was a huge success and went on to do more comedy shows at Room 5, Chocolat Restaurant, The Highlands at the Hollywood & Highland complex and The Hollywood Improv. The Hollywood Improv show was a benefit for cancer where Jennifer raised over $4,000 for The Osborne Cancer & Neck Foundation and is doing another show at the Improv for Ovarian Cancer.
Jennifer felt so honored to be involved in this project. The people that were involved in the organization asked Jennifer to do a show and cancer is a cause Jennifer is very passionate about and through laughter how wonderful that we can raise money for cancer.
When Jennifer first got to Los Angeles, she was waiting tables, dog walking, bartending, catering, cocktailing, temping and substitute teaching to make ends meet such as many actors/comedians do in Los Angeles & New York. She decided to stop being a starving actress, and just be a rich struggling actress by getting her real estate license. This career move allows her to sell homes and mortgages, while still being able to pursue her dream!!! We are excited to see what will come for Jennifer Meyers in 2007!!! With the drive and determination that this girl possesses, the sky is the limit!
Laughter is the best medicine!!! Jennifer is so thankful to her family & friends for all the support she has received over the years.
