About
I am Lisa, and this is who I am and what I do (although at times I have a difficult time differentiating between the two). I am the medical director of the St. Tammany Humane Society, Committee Member of the Pelican Bark Park Association, as well as the matriarchal director of a burgeoning household of a plethora of species. As for my career, it is simply all about the animals. All of our shelter animals have been rescued from the surrounding areas and placed in our care - a NO KILL facility. In addition to overseeing the health and welfare of our shelter pets, our clinic (yours truly) also serves the public as well. On any given day, I can be found elbow deep in viscera, evaluating new intakes, educating clients about pet health and the non-damaging psychological effects of fecals, and publicly promoting the shelter in any media outlet in which I'm able.
What is more, the chaotic animal atmosphere doesn't end when I walk out of the shelter doors! I share my not-so-humble abode with the following members of the animal kingdom: Pinni and Piper (my two clairvoyant greyhounds), Squatch (my cynical indolent dachshund), Tizzy (elusive black cat),Tom (alpha cat of the neighborhood), Du (three collective goldfish), and a pleico (What's a pleico?, asks the ignorant masses). In addition to these furry minions I claim as my own, we shall add Phoebe and Buddy - mother-in-law move ins. This catapults the number of my beastly brood and aquatic adoptees to a mind numbing eleven!! The Homosapiens in my household are seriously outnumbered. Those on two legs (on a good night) consist of: my 2 year old Sawyer (dinosaur complex), artistic husband (out of this world), and my mother-in-law ("I moved in because I have Alzheimer's, but at least I don't have Alzheimer's."). I am passionate and deeply committed to my career, family, and needy animals in our community! I am also deeply committed to getting on this reality show so that I may be better able to stop global warming, promote world peace, and eradicate animal neglect and cruelty on a world-wide scale.
